CHRIS TURNER 'FlyLOVE' (Andrés Remix)Rebirth Rec. [hand stamped 10"]Growing up Oakland, CA, Chris Turner knew at the age of four that he wanted to be a singer just like his father. As a child, he was member of the Kairos Youth Choir at Crowden Music School, performed at the age of nine with the San Francisco Opera Company, and was a student with the Young Musicians Program at the University of California (YMP), one of the leading music training programs in the nation. Chris graduated from the School of the Arts (SOTA) High School in San Francisco and was selected to be the featured vocalist for the SF Jazz High School All-Stars, opening up for jazz greats like Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, and Michael Brecker. He was later selected to the prestigious GRAMMY High School Jazz Ensemble and performed with many GRAMMY artists including Carlos Santana, Kirk Whalum, and Dave Koz. Chris recently graduated from the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He tours nationally with Bilal Oliver and has toured with Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Bow Wow, Soulja Boy, and Sean Kingston. Chris can be seen currently on tour with Esperanza Spaulding as well as with his own band. Produced with Phantom Lover, ‘FlyLOVE’ is the amazing single to accompany his first Album ‘LOVElife Is A Challenge’. Already a big fave of Gilles Peterson, Agoria and MCDE, this project is every aspect and extent of his love; the evolution of emotions expressed from a good man with music as his vessel. The importance of Loving Yourself first and foremost before you can give True Love to a significant other, as well as the world, is key and is a lesson that Turner has embodied in life directly and musically. Turner says ‘I am merely a middle man trying to bring you and true love together. LOVElife is my melodic contribution that highlights the significance of loving yourself, sharing growth, and learning to forgive’ . Signed to Rebirth, The Original has been mixed and remastered for a proper single release in 2013.The package also features remix from Detroit underground hero Andrés. He combines elements of soul, hip-hop, broken beat and house music. His vintage tape-worn groove, warm keys and the swinging strings are irresistible ! Watch out for a limited coloured 10” vinyl in August 2013.LISTEN-★★★★☆
